At Trafalgar, we understand that relationships are important, and that spending time together helps each of us to feel connected to the community. What better way to encourage this than with food! The Burn's Supper is held in January, and is a traditional Scottish celebration that remembers the life of poet Robbie Burns. As well as a fantastic meal, the entertainment provided by Trafalgar members is top-notch. The congregation has for years hosted an annual Lobster Dinner at the end of May. A festive atmosphere surrounds an all-you-can-eat lobster supper complete with salads, rolls, dessert and even roast beef for those not fond of lobster. A silent auction is often held the same night and offers pieces from local artists, gift certificates from area merchants, as well as home made pies and quilts. The people of Trafalgar enjoy one another and are always looking for opportunities to eat, drink, and visit together. Seniors and those at home during the day are invited to gatherings several times a year, such as an Epiphany Party, Valentine's Tea, or Strawberry Social . Over a glass of wine or a cup of tea, warm conversation flows easily as everyone takes some time to slow down and enjoy one another's company. On a Sunday night in December we gather for a Christmas dinner of roast turkey and all the trimmings prepared by those with gifts for hospitality. Afterwards there is plenty of music and drama celebrating the season. It is a comfortable, family evening where many gifts are shared and the story of Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus comes alive once more. |
