Trafalgar has a big heart when it comes to mission. We know that sharing and serving are important to our faith development, and are active on local, national and international levels. Inspired by a congregation member and elder, Dr. Joyce Nsubuga, Trafalgar has developed and sponsored the construction of a library/learning centre in a small village in Uganda. Each Christmas Trafalgar families provide Christmas presents and food vouchers for thirty or more individuals from families being served by the Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services (SAVIS) organization in Halton. Trafalgar supports the Armagh second stage women's shelter and the Evangel Hall street mission in Toronto throughout the year through donations of clothing and other items. Look for the bins in the front hall of the church. In all seasons, a large bin near our front door collects non-perishable food items which are taken regularly to the local food bank. Especially needed are canned meat and fish, pasta, baby formula, and cereal. Each year Trafalgar promotes the care of God's creation through our local Earth Day efforts in Oakville. Working with Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology & Human Rights, the church takes responsibility for collecting garbage at a nearby section of walking trail at the Glenashton Bridge. Youth, adults and children from the church and from the surrounding neighbourhood are given bags and gloves and then asked to pick up litter and debris. Through our actions we declare that caring for the earth is a vital part of our faith. |
